COSMOTE, a member of OTE Group and a member of Deutsche Telekom Group (since March/09), was commercially launched in April/98 and since 2001 has been holding the leading market position in Greece.
Today COSMOTE has a customer base that exceeds 7.3 million (Q1/2015) and operates a mobile network supporting 2G (GPRS & EDGE) available to 99.8% of the population, 3G (UMTS, HSPA, HSPA+) with 90% population coverage, while COSMOTE 4G (LTE) network has the widest coverage in Greece and is already available to 70% of the population. Since the beginning of 2015 4G+/LTE Advanced (up to 300Mbps) has been commercially introduced.
COSMOTE has also managed to establish itself as one of the biggest mobile operators in SE Europe through the successful course of its subsidiaries in Albania (AMC) and Romania (Telekom Romania Mobile Communications). GERMANOS S.A., one of the most successful retail chains in telecoms field in SE Europe, is also member of the Group.
COSMOTE has been very actively involved in R&D activities with participation in many European and national research projects.
